Gucchi mushrooms, also known as Morel mushrooms, are a prized delicacy that hails from the lush forests of Kashmir. They are one of the most expensive mushrooms in the world.

They have a honeycomb-like appearance, with a pale yellow or orange colour. The flesh of the mushroom is spongy and has a nutty flavour. They can be cooked in a variety of ways, and are often used in soups, stews, and risottos.

Gucchi mushrooms are a good source of antioxidants, which can help protect the body against damage from free radicals. They are also a good source of vitamins and minerals, including vitamin D, potassium, copper, and manganese. And hence aid in bone and heart health, immune system and metabolism.

Gucchi can be stored in the refrigerator in a sealed container for up to 12 months. ⛄️

The delectable Gucchis

The Gucchis are superb . They give the rice a very subtle flavour

The morals aren't from kashmir but found in high altitude of jammu division I.e Doda,Kathua,Udhampur districts.

Surprise discovery

The morel mushrooms don't exist in south India. So getting them was such a nice experience. Though it was my first time, I could saute and use them in a pulao. Flavoursome and fresh, I thank Kanz & Muhul for sourcing them. I also thank them for some wonderful Kashmiri rajma I purchased earlier and of course saffron.

Cooked these melt in the mouth , light as air mushrooms in a whiskey sauce! .. made at home ..😄going to try a Rice dish next. Thanks to Kanz and Muhul we could procure great Morels.

Guchhi was cooked in the traditional himachali way. But it has a slight tangy taste!if left for some time after cooking.Its taste is versatile because when it was cooked with peas in punjabi spices,then it had a better taste!
