'Kanz & Muhul' literally translates to a bigger version of the 'Mortar & Pestle' — a tool found in the aangan of every Kashmiri home before the 60s.

A tool. A ritual. A memory passed down through generations.

The Story

Where It All Began

Most Kashmiris born before the 60s would have seen the Kanz & Muhul in the aangan of their homes — ready for weddings, for spice grinding, for the slow rituals of the kitchen.

Jigri would hand-pick the finest red chillies from Maharajganj, sun-dry them to crisp. The ladies of the house would gather — removing stems, sipping Sheer chai, turning the garden into a chattering ground.

Those spices were really special. They lasted a long, long time.

Turn by turn, they would pound the chillies and sieve the ground spices — separating the coarse from the fine. This is the memory Kanz & Muhul carries into every product we craft today.
