Matamaal Foundation: Supporting Our Community During the COVID-19 Crisis

During the COVID-19 pandemic, as lockdowns and restrictions disrupted lives, we at Matamaal took on the responsibility of serving our community through the Matamaal Foundation. Our mission was clear: to provide food, shelter, and clothing to those most in need, reaching out to both people and animals affected by the crisis.

With our restaurant operations paused, we repurposed our kitchens to prepare thousands of meals daily for those facing food insecurity. As reported by India Times, "Every morning at 10 AM, the team sets out with packed meals for everyone in need." This consistent effort ensured that vulnerable groups, including the homeless and daily wage earners, received the support they desperately needed.

Beyond our food initiatives, Matamaal Foundation also focused on clothing drives, distributing warm clothing to individuals who were hardest hit by the pandemic. A volunteer reflected on our efforts, saying, "It’s not just about feeding people, it’s about making them feel seen and cared for during a time when everyone is struggling." Our aim was to provide not only basic necessities but also a sense of comfort and dignity.

Understanding that the pandemic’s impact extended beyond humans, we also included stray animals in our outreach, ensuring they were fed and cared for during this difficult period. This holistic approach underscored our commitment to leaving no one behind—human or animal.

Our journey throughout the pandemic has been driven by a deep sense of community and the belief that together, we can face any challenge. Today, Matamaal Foundation continues to stand by those in need, dedicated to making a positive difference every day.
