The tale of ‘Hokh Syun’ :
‘Hokh Syun’ literally translates to sun-dried vegetables. Back in the day, due to lack of connectivity and storage facilities in the Valley, sun-dried vegetables would be an essential part of the winter delicacies. Vegetables like potatoes, radish, turnip, tomatoes, lotus stem and collard greens (haak) would be sun-dried and relished during the winters. Even though fresh vegetables are now available in abundance, ‘hokh syun’ continues to be an absolute favourite.
